‘To play like that in the final shows the mental character’: Rohit Sharma after India thrash Sri Lanka to win Asia Cup 2023


India lifted the Asia Cup 2023 title after beating Sri Lanka convincingly by 10 wickets at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

The hosts were bowled out for just 50 runs as Mohammed Siraj ran riot, picking up 6/21. Later, the Indian openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill knocked off the target in just 6.1 overs to secure the win.

It summarized a clinical Indian performance which led them to their eighth Asia Cup title, and captain Rohit Sharma lauded his team’s mental strength and said,” It was an excellent performance. To come out and play like that in the final shows the mental character.”

“Great start with the ball and clinical finish with the bat,” he said at the post-match interaction.

Rohit also agreed with former India head coach and current commentator Ravi Shastri that India had ticked most of the boxes, and according to the India captain, they did everything they could’ve achieved as a team in the Asia Cup.
