‘Injuries so close to the World Cup could really cost you’: Rahul Dravid before Asia Cup final
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2023, and several key players from different teams are currently nursing injuries.
However, this could have a significant impact on the tournament, as teams will be looking to field their strongest possible sides.
For India, Shreyas Iyer is currently sidelined with back spasms, while Axar Patel has been struggling with multiple niggles.
Highlighting this aspect, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid raised concerns and said, “All teams are in a similar position, injuries so close to the WC could really cost you.”
“We just need to keep our fingers crossed, trust our processes. We are in a tricky situation where some guys need to be rested, while some guys need some cricket. It is a tricky balance to achieve,” Dravid told Star Sports.
Looking ahead at the final against Sri Lanka, Dravid said, “We were a bit worried about the weather, but we’ve got decent cricket throughout the tournament. Hopefully, we can get over the line today.”
